Five musicians from the Munich area, most of whom live in Dachau - united in their passion for traditional folk music with a modern twist. Since 2009, the band has dedicated itself to reinterpreting traditional folk songs and giving them a fresh, rousing touch. In their arrangements, the members' diverse musical backgrounds, such as punk or classical music, merge to create an exciting variety of sounds. The characteristic sound of Folk Distillery is created by the interplay of flute, violin and banjo, framed by bass and drums. The instruments are complemented by guitar and cello. Occasionally, concertina or harmonica are also added. Concise lead vocals are complemented by a polyphonic backing choir in the choruses - creating even more depth and variety. The repertoire comprises mainly Irish, but also Scottish and English songs: sometimes spirited and fast-paced, sometimes soulful and atmospheric. One thing is for sure: a good mood is guaranteed!
