Sunday, April 19th — Shortly before 5:00 PM, between the Amper and Isar rivers, the Schleißheimer Canal was dug. This canal connected the summer residence of the Wittelsbach Dukes in Dachau with Schleißheim Palace via the „Gondola Shuttle“ waterway, cutting across the Dachauer Moos. We will follow the canal system from Dachau to Schleißheim, examine crossing structures where possible, and explore the technology, history, and stories surrounding this constructed waterway, which curiously flows in two directions. Well-founded background information and wonderful views will round out the experience.
