Carl Thiemann House of Artists

House and studio of the painter and sculptor Ulla M. Scholl. The painter and woodcutter Carl Thiemann (1881-1966), who came to Dachau in 1908, was the last to build a house in the artists' colony. He bought two plots of land on what was then Karl-Theodor-Straße in 1920. Designed by architect Karl Bergmann and built by master builder Otto Reischl, the house was more modest than originally planned due to a shortage of materials. The artist took a lot of time to design the large garden. He lived here with his first wife Louise, née Miéville (1878-1957) and his daughter, the artist Margarethe Thiemann (1909-1950). In 1954, the house was transferred to the town of Dachau. Today, Ulla M. Scholl (*1948), the daughter of the sculptor Ulla Scholl (1919-2011), lives and works in the house as a sculptor and painter.
