For a trip to the old town of Dachau, public transport from Munich is recommended. From Munich, you can easily take the S2 train to Dachau station. Bus 719 will take you from the station forecourt to Dachau's old town (Rathaus stop).
Start your day here with a visit to Dachau Castle and the adjoining Hofgarten. Enjoy peace and far-reaching views over Munich, sometimes even to the Alpine chain. Afterwards, a tour of the old town with the flexible and free audio tour is recommended.
