Anton Felber

Anton Felber

Anton Felber, born on May 7, 1902, had to accept the death of his father at the age of nine, which must have been a great loss for the boy. He lived with his mother and sister in great poverty. As a teenager, he came into conflict with the police several times. He was then sent to the Rothenfeld reformatory, from which he made two escape attempts. During several stays in prisons, sentenced for theft and begging, he learned the craft of basket making. After a further prison sentence in 1937, he was taken into „preventive police custody as a professional criminal“ in December 1938 and sent to Dachau concentration camp.

In February 1939, he was transferred to Flossenbürg concentration camp. He only survived the inhumane working conditions in the quarry there for eight months and died on October 20, 1939.
