Max Feldbauer House of Artists

In 1910, the painter Max Feldbauer (1869-1948) built a castle-like villa on the Udldinger Giglberg in Mitterndorf with a view of the Amper and as far as Munich.

The Art Nouveau building, which he called the „castle“, was designed by the Munich architects Delisle and Ingwersen. Below the hill was a paddock for the horses, Feldbauer's favorite motif. Feldbauer taught at the Damenakademie in Munich from 1905 to 1916. On October 1, 1918, he was appointed to the academy in Dresden. The „Burg“ was sold in 1919 and Dresden became the new center of his life in 1934.
