Dachau is internationally renowned as the site of the former Dachau concentration camp. It makes sense that the town is now home to an educational facility that not only offers accommodation and meals, but also provides historical and political education for a wide range of groups.
Committed citizens from Dachau and from Germany and abroad have been working together with concentration camp survivors since the 1980s to ensure that an International House is built in Dachau.
A foundation was set up and the house opened in 1998.
In addition to accommodation and meals, space, time and knowledge are provided to enable participants to come to terms with the history of Dachau concentration camp and its consequences.
This is the task of the Education division. The management of the hostel has been transferred to the German Youth Hostel Association, which is responsible for services. The hostel offers 120 beds in 2 - 4 bed rooms, various seminar rooms and leisure facilities.
