Johann Pflügler was born on September 30, 1909 in Niederroth. From 1912, he lived with his parents and five siblings on a small farm in Schleißheimer Straße. His father had to earn extra money at the Schuster cardboard factory. Johann actually wanted to become a shoemaker. The family could not afford the apprenticeship fees, so he learned the trade of shaper at Kraus-Maffei in Allach. He later worked as a foreman at this company. In the economically difficult 1920s, he was temporarily unemployed.
He took part in political rallies and sympathized with the communist movement. Hans, as he was known, was married and the father of four children, the fourth of whom was only born a month after his murder. During the wave of arrests of political dissidents in April 1933, he was arrested and imprisoned for eight weeks in Dachau district court prison because of his contacts with communists.
His job in an important armaments factory saved Hans Pflügler from military service.
On April 28, 1945, he and other Dachau residents responded to the call of Freiheitsaktion Bayern and the group occupied the town hall to prevent the town from being defended. The uprising was put down and Johann Pflügler was shot by the SS on April 28, 1945.
